Attack of the Earthlings combine le combat au tour par tour et la furtivité dans une campagne solo sombre et comique, où vous, le joueur, prenez le contrôle de la race extraterrestre du coin pour défendre votre monde d'origine contre les envahisseurs.

Vous prenez le contrôle des Essaimeurs, une espèce insectoïde très agressive, qui doit convertir la chair humaine en muscle extraterrestre, améliorer ses unités et même trouver le temps de gâcher une fête d'anniversaire.

Pour mettre fin à l'invasion, les Essaimeurs doivent planifier leurs attaques avec soin. Prenez le contrôle des employés sans méfiance, posez des pièges, sortez des évents et des cachettes pour prendre votre proie humaine par surprise et attaquez en groupe pour tuer plusieurs ennemis à la fois.
